Current building code introduced with the 2009 IECC and updated in the 2012 IECC requires that new duct work needs to be tested to ensure there are as few leaks as possible. Before 2011 Delaware had no inspection for duct work. According to the Department of Energy more than 30% of the air that travels through the duct work is lost before it makes it to the destination.
