Photo Album: Encapsulating a Vented Crawl Space in Claymont, DE
Homeowner's in Claymont, DE needed their vented crawl space to be encapsulated.
Vents in the crawl space let in warm and cool air into the crawl space. This creates humidity and condensation within the crawl space causing the insulation to sag away from the subfloor making it useless. The humidity can also can cause mold and odors in the crawl space.
To solve this problem, Dr. Energy Saver will install the CleanSpace Encapsulation System. The vents and other air leaks are covered with insulated vent covers. Dimpled drainage matting is applied to the dirt floor to create air space for water to flow. SilverGlo insulation is applied along the walls of the crawl space and the cleanspace liner is installed on top of the drainage matting. The results are much lower humidiy, warmer floors and lower utility costs.
A Dirty Crawl Space
Vented crawl spaces can become a mess with the constant air flow through the vents, dirt and dust.

Sagging Insulation
The constant flow of cool and warm air from the vents cause condensation and humidity in the crawl space. This causes the insulation to sag away from the sub-floor, making it useless.
Spray Foam Installation on Rim Joist
The Rim Joists have been sprayed with spray foam to seal off air leaks from the outside.
Installation of Drainage Matting
The Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva team has begun installing the drainage matting along the dirt floor of the crawl space.
The Installation of CleanSpace Liner
The CleanSpace liner has been installed over the drainage matting to create a clean and fresh crawl space.
