Duct Cleaning in Milton, DE
Challenge
The homeowner asked Lawson Home Services for two things:
- Reduce dust and allergens in the home
- Improve the crawl space access [door]
We can't express the importance of clean ductwork for reducing allergens within the home. It's a no-brainer. Since the HVAC air handler is kicking on and off, anything that has accumulated inside the ductwork is going to be blown all through the house. That's true even for brand new ductwork like that we found inside this Milton, DE home. There was plenty of dust and debris left behind after the initial construction of the home. The way homes are built these days, contractors are in and out as quickly as they possibly can be. And so, as we see in the pictures, nuts, rivets, sawdust, and drywall dust are still in the ductwork on the day of closing when the homeowners are handed the keys. So having the ductwork cleaned initially is a good idea.
Another thing - mastic and tape are old-school, but inexpensive and quick. So that's why new home contractors continue to use it. But as you can see, by looking both inside and outside this new ductwork - the mastic cracks and allows some of the pressurized air inside the ductwork to escape before it reaches the rooms where it was intended. And over time the tape loses its stickiness and begins to fail. Over time the duct work becomes less and less efficient, causing the homeowner increasing utility bills, while simultaneously decreasing the comfort and air quality.
Solution
Lawson Home Services has a simple, 2-step state-of-the-art solution to dusty, leaky air ducts:
- Our Platinum Duct Cleaning service will leave your ductwork looking sparkling clean as you can see in the pictures below. We get everything out, so that you aren't breathing it, sneezing, and constantly having to clean it off your furniture and household surfaces.
- The amazing AeroSeal™ process was invented by a research scientist at the University of California. Rather than being applied to the outside like tape and mastic, AeroSeal™ is introduced inside the ductwork. Under pressure, it literally seals the ductwork from the inside as it is forced through the leaks by the pressure, sealing them as it goes. Utterly ingenious.
It is also important to seal off your crawlspace from the outside air. Typical crawlspace doors fit loosely and dont do the job. Lawson installs the Everlast™ crawlspace door which effectively creates an air-tight seal. This helps keep outside air OUT and keeps the crawlspace and the air inside it, clean.
The job is still in progress. Lawson's crew will soon return to perform the AeroSeal process. We will update the pictures when that happens.
