Attic Insulation in Wilmington, DE
Challenge
The value of the original insulation was only R18. In addition there was all kinds of exposed ductwork running through the attic of this 2007 three-story townhouse in Wilmington, DE. Other problems include huge cracks left behind by the original builder which allows air the homeowner paid a lot of money to heat and cool, escape up through the wall cavities, right into the attic, where it was swept away to the outside. What a useless loss of energy and money.
Solution
Dr. Energy Saver removed the old insulation (R18) with a giant vacuum machine (bet you didn't think that was possible - cool, huh?) so the cracks and holes in the attic floor could be found and properly air sealed.
After all preparations were completed the crew sprayed the exposed ductwork with Tight N True™ foam insulation. Next, the crew blew in 17" of fresh TruSoft™ Cellulose Insulation to create a nice blanket, more than tripling the insulation value (R60) which will surely keep the warm air during winter season and cool air during hot summer months, inside the home, where it belongs, instead of being sucked into the attic, and carried off into the great blue sky where it does no good at all for the occupants of this home.
