This is a quintessential example of a Garrison Colonial Style Home built in the 1960s and 70s. Notice how the second story overhangs the first and the attached garage with its lower roof and attic.
Penetrations of the attic floor
It may not look like much of an air leak - but you have to realize air from the lower floors is drawn through the wall cavities up into the attic where it vanishes to the outside through the attic/roof ventilation. All these holes add up to a big loss of air the homeowner has paid to heat and cool.
