CleanSpace Matting and Sump Pump Combo Eliminates Water In Stevensville Crawl Space
John and Karen F. of Stevensville, MD decided to call the professionals at Dr. Energy Saver after noticing after a heavy rainstorm that excess water was found around their foundation. Worried about the status of their crawl space, they contacted Delmarva the very next day.
Delmarva sent our crawl space restoration specialist Raymond Bremmerman to evaluate the couples crawl space. While evaluating the crawl space, Raymond noticed water on the ground and signs of moisture on the walls. He immediately knew what to do and called in Delmarva’s Production Team One to assist him. Raymond had the crew install a HydroLink drainage system with gravel to eliminate water on the floor and CleanSpace drainage matting. Next, to eliminate future flooding a SmartSump sump pump was installed. This patented system has a built in alarm on top, notifying the homeowner when excess flooding occurs, and it is also made to partner with the drainage matting to ensure an airtight seal between the two products. After installing water prevention products, Raymond suggested the removal of the faulty fiberglass insulation and the installation of a 2” SilverGlo insulation board throughout the crawl space. Finally, Raymond recommended a SaniDry CX as the final level of protection and prevention. This state of the art dehumidification system can operate in temperatures as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit and can pump 109 pints of moisture out a day!
After a five day installation process, John and Karen’s crawl space is no longer an area of concern and they can rest easy knowing they have the best of the best for protection in their crawl space, all thanks to the professionals at Dr. Energy Saver Delmarva.
Encapsulating a Crawlspace in Centreville, Maryland
In Centreville, Maryland new homeowners were very concerned about their health and durability inside of their home. They could smell the odors coming in from the crawlspace along with the humidity level inside of the crawl space being too high contributing to standing water and sweaty ducts.
Dr. Energy Saver then came out and observed their crawlspace finding multiple problems leading to why the family was in discomfort. After going over everything that we wanted to do as a result of the visit, we then proposed a solution to fix the problems they were facing.
Our production crew came out and first, removed the insulation that was underneath the house. Next installing a drainage system which controls the water in your crawlspace and allows it to be drained then pumped away. After the drainage system is in place, we added our sump pumps and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier which controls the relative humidity inside the crawlspace.
Last adding our CleanSpace, Drainage Matting, and 2" Silverglo on the side walls. Encapsulating this crawlspace helped these homeowners improve the indoor air quality inside the home along with a much more energy efficient crawlspace.
Annual Maintenance in Chester, MD
Donnie Lonski, Lawson Home Services' savvy tech, recently performed the annual maintenance service for these prudent homeowners in Chester, MD. Catching problems before they turn into major issues is one of the advantages of scheduling regular service and maintenance. In this case a very dangerous problem was discovered as Donnie entered the crawlspace. Somehow the condensation pump was unplugged, resulting in an overflow onto the CleanSpace™ liner floor. The worst part was one end of the extension cord was laying in a puddle of water while the other end was still plugged in to the electrical outlet. Donnie's eagle eye spotted the problem right away.\ and the situation was immediately remedied. The only consequence was the moisture content of the floor joists in the crawlspace was slightly elevated - but still below the 16% we don't want to exceed, since mold growth and wood rot can begin to occur at higher moisture levels.
The Sedona SaniDry™ dehumidifier was inspected and serviced: filter cleaned and replaced. The unit was swithced on for a test run, the proper settings verified., and the humidity of the airflow coming out was measured and found to be as dry as a bone - just what we want.
Next the sump pump was inspected and all moving parts inspected to ensure proper operation of the pump. Cleaning was not necessary in this case.
Finally the humidity of the air inside the crawlspace was measured at 59%, a bit higher than we like, but that was likely due to the condensate overflow onto the CleanSpace™ floor which we fixed. If there are no unexpected problems in the meantime, we will be back next year to make sure everything continues to be in proper working order.
Dryer duct clean out and repair in Chester, MD
A dryer works by blowing warm air over your damp clothes, causing the moisture to evaporate. That moist air has to be carried away, and is pushed outside the home through ductwork. The faster that air can be exhausted the sooner your clothes will get dry. But if your ductwork gets clogged up, like this one in Chester, MD, then the air slows down. That causes the dryer to run longer which runs up your utility bill. And since the dryer is the most expensive home appliance to operate, it makes sense to keep the duct work clean so your dryer can operate most efficiently. It will also free up a lot of your time on laundry day, so you don't have to stand around waiting and waiting for your clothes to get dry.
This homeowner didn't realize it, but the flex duct going from her dryer to the rigid tubing had torn and needed to be replaced. That was a quick and inexpensive fix.
If you haven't cleaned out your dryer ductwork then pick up the phone and call Lawson Home Services. We'll put you on the schedule and before you know it we'll have your dryer ducts sparkling clean. We also clean out HVAC ductwork, important for efficient operation of your heating and air conditioning systems and for cleaner, healthier indoor air.

Breathing Easy in Centreville, Maryland: Lawson Home Services Eliminates Radon Concerns
Why Radon Mitigation Was Needed:
A Centreville, Maryland family recently purchased a beautiful home built in 2004. While the newer construction might suggest a lower risk, they prioritized their health and conducted a radon test. The results revealed a level of 6 pCi/L, exceeding their desired threshold of 2 pCi/L for optimal indoor air quality. Even low levels of radon exposure can pose health risks over time, prompting them to seek professional help.
Why They Chose Lawson Home Services:
The family knew they needed a trusted partner for radon mitigation. They chose Lawson Home Services for our reputation as a leading radon testing company in the area, the quality of their work and professionalism.
The Cause of the Problem:
The presence of radon gas in the home was the culprit. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that seeps into homes through cracks and foundations.
Lawson Home Services' Solution:
Our team of qualified radon inspectors conducted a follow-up test for confirmation. After discussing the findings with the homeowners, we recommended a customized radon mitigation system installation. Our experienced radon mitigation contractors designed and installed a system specifically tailored to the home's layout and radon levels, utilizing established techniques and top-notch equipment.

Why they needed a radon mitigation system: The homeowner had recently purchased a house in Centreville, MD, and after conducting a short-term radon test, they discovered that the radon levels were at 6 pCi/L. How We Fixed the Problem (Mitigation Process):
Conducted a thorough inspection to confirm the radon levels and assess the home’s layout.
Installed an exterior radon fan to effectively vent the radon gas out of the house.
Positioned a strategic pipe system to guide radon from the foundation safely to the outside.
Fitted a manometer to monitor system pressure and ensure continuous optimal operation.
Sealed the sump pit to maintain proper drainage while preventing radon from entering the home.
Verified that the radon levels were reduced from 6 pCi/L to a safer 1.4 pCi/L.
What's unique about this situation: The homeowner acted immediately upon discovering elevated radon levels, even though they had just moved into the house.
